Visualization Techniques
During the systems analysis phase of a project, it often helps to visualize situations and interactions that stem from requirements. Usually, it requires inventing some type of informal drawing to express an idea about how the Real or Imagined World you are modeling is going to work. The following visual representation ideas may help you to create your own types of informal diagrams.
Calculations
A Numberline can be used to demonstrate how people think when they attempt calculations involving Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division. A simple Grid can be used to show why (a+b)(a+b) equals a^2+2ab+b^2.

Story Plots
Diagrams to show detective book plots have been drawn by an obscure author called Keller. An example of a Keller Webwork Plot Diagram is shown here, but not much else is known about the technique.
Number Sorting Techniques
The way various sorting techniques work can be visualized quite easily. A Java applet demo will appear on this page sometime.
Keeping the Score
Some games have complex scoring systems which can be visualized in diagrammatic form. For example, Tennis is a game with a non trivial scoring system that is designed to accentuate the difference between players.
